7. When applying for scholarships online, if I have not yet received my graduation and degree certificates (for instance, during March to May), how should I apply?
Please download the Expected Graduation Certificate formart from the Downloads section, have it verified and stamped by your school/university, and submit the original/Copy. Later, you shall provide copies of your graduation double certificates(graduate certificate + diploma certificate) when they are issued.
Additionally, on the day of registration for new intake, please bring the original double certificates and other relevant materials for qualification review and status verification.
Failure to present the original double certificates will result in refusal of registration for new students.
8. What should I do if I need to send a hard copy of my application materials/documentation?
Please directly upload a high-resolution PDF scan through the online system (https://usst.at0086.cn/Student). There is no need to send hard copies.
Moreover, when registering on the day of enrollment, you shall bring all original documents submitted with your application for identity authentication and material verification.
9. How many preferred majors can I apply for?
When filling out the online application (https://usst.at0086.cn/Student), candidates may select one major and indicate whether they are willing to accept adjustments.
For master's and doctoral programs, admission will be based on the major specified in the Supervisor Acceptance Letter and candidates will be selected based on their preferences.

For the Master's and Doctorate programs, 8 disciplines/majors (highlighted in green rendering above) will be offered in English medium, depending on the Supervisor Acceptance Letter received by applicants. For all other disciplines/Majors, instruction will be conducted in Chinese.
11. Do you have English Taught Programs for Undergraduate candidates?
All Undergraduate Programs at Jungong Road 516 Campus will be conducted in Chinese medium, and therefore, proof of HSK-4 Chinese Proficiency is a mandatory requirement;
We USST offer undergraduate programs in English medium through the Sino-British College (SBC) at USST Fuxing Road campus.
Please note that the programs at the SBC Campus are part of Sino-foreign cooperative programs and are NOT eligible for CSC/SGS scholarship coverage.

12. Is the HSK Level 4 Chinese Proficiency Proof mandatory for SGS application?
The basic requirements for the application must be met first in order to be eligible for the scholarship. One of the fundamental requirements for the scholarship is to provide the corresponding language certificate based on the language of instruction (Majors in Chinese medium), which is a necessary condition for the application. Without the appropriate language certificate, one cannot participate in the 2025 scholarship review committee's evaluation.
13. Will the Chinese language preparatory program be included under the SGS program?
The Chinese language preparatory self-supporting program is an independent project and is not covered by the scholarship. Therefore, one should seek out a preparatory college independently to complete Chinese language studies and obtain the HSK Level 4 certificate (with a score of 180 or above) first.
Then, the applicant shall use the HSK Level 4 certificate to apply for the SGS scholarship program accordingly.

Please note that the Chinese Government Scholarship mainly consists of two types: CSC-A and CSC-B. Kindly decide which category you are applying for first.
For the CSC-A (Bilateral) scholarship, please contact the dispatching authorities(please refer to question NO.4) directly.
For the CSC-B scholarship (University independent enrollment for Master’s and Doctorate programs) application, please contact USST directly.

*A dispatching authority could be one of the following organizations or institutions:
The relevant entities include the education department, the Chinese Embassy or Consulate located in the applicant’s home country, a foreign Embassy situated within China, a higher education institution in China, or a research institute. For further information and specific inquiries, please reach out to designated project officer.
5. Q: Can I apply directly to China Scholarship Council (CSC)?

No.
*CSC doesn’t accept individual applications from applicants.

*USST is one of the higher education institutions entitled to admit students under Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

6. Q: Can I send the application materials via email to CSC?

10. Q: Can I apply without the HSK Chinese Proficiency proof?

If the applicants have successfully completed their studies at a Chinese university and obtained the degree taught in Chinese medium, there is no need to submit an HSK certification.
11. Q: Where should I take the physical examination?

If the applicant is outside of Chinese Mainland and does not have a valid Residence Permit, they must submit their Physical Examination Form.

12. Q: How many candidates are eligible for the CSC-B scholarship at USST?
A:
The number varies each year, there are around 5 independent enrollment seats for each year, Besides the independent enrollment, you can also apply to our school through the Chinese embassy(Dispatching Authorities, CSC-A), the number is not limited.
13. Q: What shall I do if I can’t open the online application website?
A:
*It might be caused by the browser. IE browser is strongly recommended for online application.
*Please use Firefox or Internet Explorer (11.0).
*For applicants using Internet Explorer, please close the “compatible view mode” function ahead of editing.
14. Q: Can I apply for undergraduate program directly through USST?
A:
Unfortunately, you cannot.
*For independent enrollment Program(CSC-B), our university accepts the application for Master and Doctorate programs only.
*If you want to apply for undergraduate progams, you should contact Chinese Embassies and Consulates Overseas and other authorized dispatch agents to apply.
15. Q: Can I apply to more than two universities at the same time through CSC-B?
A:
*Each applicant is limited to submitting only one Type B application per academic year.
*Applicants are required to designate one university as their Type B application if they have more than one university of interest.
*The Type B application that is submitted will be considered as the applicant's final selection of university.
16. Q: When I finish the online application, should I mail all the hard copies to your university?
