On June 7th,organised by Shanghai Municipal Education Committee and Shanghai Universities Research Association for Foreign Students, co-sponsored by East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST), the Seventh International Students Dragon Boat Race of Universities in Shanghai was held in Fengxian campus of ECUST. There were about 1,000 international students and 25 teams from 26 universities in Shanghai competing in the race.
The dragon boat race is one of the traditional Chinese sports. On the occasion of Dragon Boat Festival, the international students from universities in Shanghai will get together to have a race and eat Zongzi and feel the traditional Chinese folk culture. The Seventh International Students Dragon Boat Race of Universities in Shanghai will not only help the international students to gain more understanding about the traditional Chinese folk custom but also let them aware that no matter where they come from, they should fight together for the honor of their universities.
Each team consists of 19 international students, 12 boatmen, 1 drummer, at least 6 boatwomen. USST delegation team won the Best Participating Award after the race.
