The research team, under the guidance of Academician Prof.Zhuang Songlin at the School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering (OECE) at USST, recently developed the world's FIRST Traditional Mechanical Nanorobot

This achievement, titled Autonomous nanorobots with powerful thrust under dry solid-contact conditions by photothermal shock, was published in Nature Communications on November 24th. The technology, known as Photothermal-Shock Tweezers, utilizes a laser capture technology based on the photothermal shock effect to capture and manipulate micro-nano objects on solid interfaces.

This breakthrough has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Shanghai Natural Science Foundation, and it has the potential to revolutionize various fields including nanomanufacturing, biomedicine, aerospace, and military applications.
