Notice on Revising the 2027 Quantitative Scoring Criteria for the Annual Review of Government Scholarships for International Student at University of Shanghai for Science and Technology

After review and approval by USST's international student admissions and government scholarship evaluation committee, the quantitative scoring criteria for the annual review of government scholarships have been revised as follows, effective from Autumn semester of 2026:

Maximum Score

Moral Character

Candidates with good moral conduct receive 30 points. International students under disciplinary sanction during the sanction period receive 0 points.

Academic Performance

 

 

Undergraduate

Those who have completed the credit hours required by the Academic Affairs Office and have a cumulative GPA ≥ 1.8 by the end of the previous semester receive 30 points; otherwise, 0 points. Those currently under academic warning or academic withdrawal probation receive 0 points.

Graduate

When participating in the annual review in the second semester of the first year, students must have completed half of the total credit requirements stipulated in the training plan in the first semester, with master's students completing no fewer than 15 credits and doctoral students no fewer than 8 credits. When participating in the annual review in the second semester of the second year or later, students must have completed the credit requirements stipulated in the training plan and passed the thesis proposal; doctoral students applying for a scholarship extension must have completed the credit requirements, passed the thesis proposal and the mid-term assessment, and entered the thesis research stage. Those who fail this item receive 0 points; those who pass it receive 30 points. Special circumstances shall be assessed and scored by the University Scholarship Evaluation Group.

Learning / Research Attitude

 

 

Undergraduate

For courses taken in the previous semester in which a student had exam eligibility revoked, 5 points are deducted per course, with a minimum score of 0. Students with no deductions receive 20 points.

Graduate

Score is calculated according to the Supervisor Review Opinion and Scoring Form, with a maximum of 20 points. If the supervisor selects not recommended for the graduate student's scholarship application or continued enjoyment of the scholarship in the form, this item receives 0 points.

Activity Participation

Activity participation assessment, with a full score of 20 points, recorded by the counselor, with a minimum of 0 points:1. Each unexcused absence from school-organized activities deducts 2 points;2. Unexcused absence from all school-organized activities in a single semester results in 0 points for this item.
