Ⅰ. Types of scholarship and who shall apply
Type A (full scholarship)
It is granted to excellent international students who will apply for Master/Doctor degree program at USST
Type B (partial scholarship)
It is granted to excellent international students who will apply for Bachelor/Master/Doctor degree program at USST
Ⅱ. The scholarship contains:
Type A (full scholarship)
Students who are granted the type A scholarship will be exempt from tuition, International Students Apartment Fees and comprehensive medical insurances.
Type B (partial scholarship)
Students who are granted the type B scholarship will be exempt from tuition and comprehensive medical insurances.

Type A (full scholarship)
Application of type A will be processed by the university from JAN. 13rd to 15th MAY, 2023.
Please go to http://study.edu.sh.gov.cn/apply/ and apply online. Choose “UNIVERSITY OF SHANGHAI FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY” as your desired school.

1. Application Form for Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) Class A,filled in Chinese or English
2. Notarized copies and Chinese or English translations of your highest education certificate, including graduation and degree certificates. Verification letter from school or employer should be provided if the applicants are students or employed. Those who submitted pre-graduation certificate/Estimated Graduate Proof will be required to provide original graudation certificate on registration day.
3. Notarized official transcripts of study records in Chinese or English. Chinese or English translations of the transcripts should be notarized too.
4. Study Plan in China in Chinese or English;
5. Letter of Recommendation in Chinese or English from two professors or associate professors from the institution where the applicants have completed or will complete study program;( for Master or Doctor degree program applicants only);The Letter shall include the details of Signature, Email address, landline or mobile phone number, date) Letter of Recommendation(USST).docx
6. Copy of Chinese language proficiency test result of new HSK 4 or above (for students will take programs taught in Chinese only);
7. Students who apply for art programs should provide their works;
8. Copy of valid passport. (at least 6 months validity before your application)
9. Guardian's Letter of Guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old.

Photo format: JPG format,size 100-500kb,bareheaded photo, white background without border, head takes up 2/3 of the photo size, not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio 4:3;
14.Uploading Short Video (Include brief introduction,academic background and study plan at USST, etc, format: Flv, mp4 or avi; Medium of Language: depends on the Medium of Instruction of your major, video size: 30M to 80M)
15. Non-crime Proof (Issued within past 5-6 months);
16. Award certificates ( if there is some);

NB.
The result of SGS A or B application will be announced in your application account at http://study.edu.sh.gov.cn/apply/c.asp?action=AS_SS_Entry (“Study in Shanghai”). Admitted students must bring the Original Copies to register on the dates listed on the admission letter. Your enrollment will be canceled without providing the relevant certificates then.
Ⅳ. About Visa for Study in China and Registration Formalities of Scholarship Winner
1. Visa for study in China
The winners of Scholarship type A and type B who directly come to Shanghai from abroad should apply for the student visa (for students who will study for over 6 months, “X” visa should be applied) to the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country with original and copy of Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (JW201/JW202), Foreigner Physical Examination Form, Scholarship Award Notice and valid passport.

2. Registration
If any scholarship winner fails to register within the time limit without the permission of the institution, he/she will be regarded as giving up the admission and the scholarship.
3. Health certificate and residence permit
Students with scholarship should bring along Foreigner Physical Examination Form and go to the Shanghai Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau International Travel Health Center for verification. If they do not have health verification from the center, they should take physical examination till they receive a Health Certificate from the said center. Anyone who refuse the physical examination or enter China with certain diseases that will be rejected as regulated by the Chinese laws and regulations will be requested to leave China within limited days and the scholarship will be canceled accordingly. The relevant expense is on the said students. The lodging and living allowance funds from Scholarship A will be stopped from that month.
Students with scholarship should apply for the Residence Permit to the Exit-Entry Bureau of Shanghai Police Station within 30 days from the date they enter China.
Please go through all the procedures of registration to the institution and apply within thirty days of arrival for the residency permit to the local police authority.

1. Category of Enrollment
Full-time postgraduates (Master, PH.D)
2. Target Students
NOT UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM,FOR MASTER AND DOCTORATE PROGRAM ONLY.
3. Qualifications
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens.
- be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health both mentally and physically.
- be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs;
- be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;
- have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 when applying for Chinesetaught master’s or doctoral programs;
- meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria.
4. Details Of Scholarship
Registration fee, tuition fee, basic teaching materials and accommodation fees are exempted.
Living allowance: (PH.D 3500 RMB/month Master 3000RMB/month).

(1)Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (filled in Chinese or in English)
Those who are able to apply online shall fill in and print the application form after submitting it online,then make sure to sign their names on the form.
(2)Copy of Passport Home Page(Particulars):
Applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of his/her ordinary passport with validity later than September, 2023.
If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2023), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;
(3)Notarized highest diploma.
Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
(4)Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards).
Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;
(5)A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 1,000 characters or words;
(6)Recommendation letters:
Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad;
(7)Copy of valid Foreigner's Physical Examination Record/Form and blood test report.
A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant).
The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority.
The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid.
Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
(8)HSK Chinese Proficiency Proof
*Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide a valid Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) certificate.
*Undergraduate or non-degree (general scholar & senior scholar) candidates should have achieved HSK Level III(HSK-3) or above;
*Postgraduate candidates should have achieved HSK Level IV (HSK-4)or above.
(9)Certificate of Non-Crime Proof/Record. (ISSUED within last 5-6 months)
The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
(10)Example of art.
To apply for majors related to art or design, applicants could submit their own works through “Example of Art/Other Supporting Documents” in the system. Applicants could also provide such materials to the applied universities directly in other ways;
